"To imagine that we could have gay marriage in the United States without also giving strong encouragement to this form of eroticism [in reference to adult males and young boys] is, in light of the ethnographic evidence, wishful thinking."

Where is the evidence for this? Sanctified homosexual ritual acts like those of the Etoro constitute a completely different system than our own. To use the Etoro as ethnographic "evidence" that such behavior would ultimately be condoned in our own society seems absurd. As a social scientist, surely you know that the rules governing sexual limitations and taboos are governed by a whole array of social factors other than the governmental acceptance of marriage.

The recognition of the state of homosexual couples merely extends governmental benefits to already constitutionality-permitted rights to sexual freedom.

This piece also implies, though subtly interwoven in context, the argument that a detrimental change in the family structure necessities governmental action to combat that change. Whether or not homosexual partners benefit the uprearing of the child is irrelevant unless it interferes with the constitutionally guaranteed rights of the child. Thus, the governmental allows single parents to adopt, though clearly this violates the author's model of the most hospitable child-rearing environment. Millions of families have been destroyed by alcohol and cigarette induced parent deaths, for instance, but the government does not outlaw these because of the potential harm on the child-rearing environment.

This is real, not only in US, but every now especially in africa, what is embarrassing is that the human rights activists they speak about protecting women but they do not handle the root causes, like pornography. unless we raise against pornograpgy and prostitution we shall continue to face these problems.

What the author brings out is very important as far as the society is conerned today. so before you may begin to oppose him you must examine yourself very carefully. he did not say that homosexuality is natural, he said it is practice in many places. In mamy places of the world people practice cannibalism; man-eating, should we say its natural and the cannibals should be given rights. please sir give us more data on this do not stop.

Very interesting and funny. The fear for having your masculinity challenged by just wearing something that connotes to girls is sufficient to make somebody abstain from behaviors that would make him humiliate himself like that. All this in a hierarchical manly system where the male (dominant and positive essence)/female (dominated and negative essence) distinction is prevalent.

A very superficial discussion of narrowly selected anthropological data in order to defend the traditional family. It is really funny. Although the author accepts the idea that both heterosexual and homosexual relationships are natural, it considers heterosexual relationships more beneficial to women.

I find intersting that people construct their love stories in a way that appears to have been occurred by accident. On the othrer hand, most of the people endow their time in preparing themselves and trying to make happen what most of the cases happens accidentally! Isn't it really stupid?
